Langlade Island is one of the main islands of the French Overseas Collective Territory of St. Pierre and Miquelon, located in the North Atlantic Ocean about 25 kilometers off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. As the larger of the islands in the archipelago, it is known for its rugged natural beauty and peaceful fishing village atmosphere.
With an area of approximately 91 square kilometers, Longueuillet Island has a mountainous terrain, a winding coastline and a typical temperate maritime climate. The island is sparsely populated, with its inhabitants concentrated in a few settlements with a traditional and quiet lifestyle and an economy based on fishing and a small amount of tourism.
The island has a strong French cultural imprint, with French as the official language, and architecture and customs preserved in Norman and Breton styles. Historically, the island developed for its fishing resources and still retains its colonial village layout and seafaring traditions.
Langrard Island is ideal for birdwatching and hiking, with pristine wetlands and cliffs inhabited by rare birds such as puffins. Visitors can experience fishing village life, sample fresh seafood, or visit the historic lighthouse and experience the beauty of nature in isolation.
