Hot Spring County is located in Bortala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China, which is situated in the northwestern border area and adjacent to Kazakhstan. The county is famous for its rich hot spring resources, with several natural hot springs, the water temperature is suitable and rich in minerals, and it is known as "sacred mountain and holy water, the spring capital of the western region". The name "Hot Springs" is derived from this feature.
Hot Spring County has magnificent natural scenery and excellent ecological environment, with a variety of landscapes such as snow-capped mountains, grasslands, wetlands and forests. It is an important eco-tourism destination in Xinjiang, with a cool climate in summer, making it a summer resort. The local area is inhabited by many ethnic groups such as Han Chinese, Mongolians, and Kazakhs, and has a diversified blend of ethnic cultures.
The county's economy is based on animal husbandry, agriculture and tourism, with specialties including beef, mutton and dairy products. Transportation relies mainly on highways, and it is connected to the road network of the whole of Xinjiang through the G219 National Highway. The best tourist season is from May to October.
