Yingxian County is located in the northern part of Shanxi Province, China, under the city of Shuozhou, on the northeastern edge of the Loess Plateau, with a total area of about 1,708 square kilometers and a population of about 300,000 people. The county has a long history and is one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization. It is famous for the Liao Dynasty architectural masterpiece "Yingxian Wooden Pagoda" (Shijia Pagoda of Fogong Temple), which is the world's oldest and tallest existing wooden pagoda on the World Cultural Heritage List. Yingxian's economy is based on agriculture, with crops such as corn and millet in abundance, as well as the development of tourism and building materials. The local climate is temperate and continental, with four distinct seasons, and the transportation is convenient, connecting major cities in Shanxi Province through a network of roads and railroads. Culturally, it retains rich traditional folklore and northern Jin features such as paper-cutting and rice-planting songs.
