Bayan Aght is a district (soum) in the Kobdo Province of western Mongolia, located in the Altai Mountains region of Mongolia, with geographic coordinates of about 47 degrees north latitude and 92 degrees east longitude. The area is dominated by steppe and mountainous terrain, with an average elevation of about 2,000 meters above sea level, and has a typical continental climate with cold, dry winters and short, mild summers.
The local economy is dominated by traditional animal husbandry, and residents are mostly engaged in herding cattle, sheep, horses and other livestock. The population is sparsely populated, mainly by Kazakhs and Mongolians, and retains a nomadic culture and ethnic customs. The infrastructure is relatively simple, and transportation depends on roads connecting to central towns such as Kobdo.
Bayan Aghat is surrounded by alpine grasslands and river valleys, making it suitable for eco-tourism and trekking adventures. There are seasonal rivers and wildlife such as snow leopards and pan sheep in the area, but tourism is less developed and visitors need to bring their own supplies. The area reflects the pristine nature and nomadic traditions of Mongolia's remote regions.
