Umtali (Mutare), Zimbabwe: Gateway to the East and Garden City
The third largest city in Zimbabwe, Umutali (now Mutare) is located in Mashonaland East Province, close to the Mozambique border and is the country's key gateway to the Indian Ocean. Known as the "Garden City of Zimbabwe", this hub of subtropical climate and fertile land has an economy centered on mining (gold, iron, chromium), agriculture (tobacco, tea) and forestry, with a network of railroads and highways connecting inland ports.
