Birkirkara, Malta: a town where history meets modernity
Birkirkara is a historic town in the center of the main island of Malta, about 6 kilometers from the capital city of Valletta, known as the "Garden City of Malta". The town has a rich cultural heritage, the most famous landmark of which is the Church of St. Helen, believed to have been built in the 4th century AD and one of the oldest churches in Malta. Birkirkara is also home to the traditional Maltese Carnival, which is celebrated every February by the local population dressed in finery, with a parade of floats and musical performances.
