Tucheng is located in the western part of New Taipei City, Taiwan, China, and is an important satellite city of the Taipei metropolitan area. It covers an area of about 29.55 square kilometers and has a population of about 240,000 people. The area was originally inhabited by the Pingpu Pendulum Community, but was reclaimed by the Han Chinese in the Qing Dynasty to form an agricultural settlement, named for the defensive earth wall built in the area.
Tucheng has now developed into an important industrial and technological town in Taiwan, with the Tingpu Hi-Tech Park, which is home to many companies in the electronic information industry. Transportation is closely connected to downtown Taipei via the Taiwan 65 Expressway and the Taipei MRT Banan Line (Blue Line). The area retains natural and humanistic landscapes such as the Chengtian Zen Temple and Tung Blossom Park, which attracts a large number of tourists during the Tung Blossom season every spring. Local specialties include oolong tea, green bamboo shoots and other agricultural products.
As one of the densely populated administrative districts in New Taipei City, Tucheng has both modern urban functions and rich historical and cultural heritage, making it an important residential and industrial cluster in the Taipei metropolitan area.
