Jiawang District is located in the northeastern part of Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China, and is an important part of the Xuzhou metropolitan area. As the only municipal district in Xuzhou, Jiawang has a total area of 690 square kilometers and a population of about 500,000 people. The area has a long history, named after the Jia family who moved to the banks of Wangtang in the Ming Dynasty. The Jawang Mining District was officially established in 1952 and renamed Jawang District in 2011.
Located in the southeast of the North China Plain, Jiawang has a warm temperate monsoon climate with four distinct seasons. The area has ecological scenic spots such as Pan'an Lake National Wetland Park and Daodong Mountain Provincial Tourist Resort, of which Pan'an Lake has become a model of ecological restoration through the treatment of coal mining subsidence land. The economy is dominated by high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, modern logistics and cultural tourism, which is promoting the transformation of traditional resource-based urban areas into green and ecological ones.
The transportation network is well-developed, 40 kilometers from Xuzhou Guanyin International Airport, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal passes through the city, and National Highway 310 and National Highway 206 intersect here. Jiawang also retains a unique folk culture, including intangible cultural heritages such as Jiawang Liuqin Opera and Biantang Stone Sculpture, displaying strong local cultural characteristics.
