Sokal, Ukraine: Historic City on the Western Border
Сокал is a border city in the Lviv Oblast of western Ukraine, situated on the Bug River and bordering Poland, and is one of the major transportation hubs connecting the two countries. The city has a history of more than a thousand years, having been founded in the 10th century AD, and was a commercial and military town of the Duchy of Rus' during the Middle Ages, developing further when it gained the rights to Magdeburg in 1569.
