Kotor, Montenegro: a medieval treasure on the Adriatic coastline
Kotor is a historic city on the Adriatic coastline of Montenegro, famous for its well-preserved medieval old town and the magnificent Bay of Kotor. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is situated on the shore of the Bay of Kotor, one of the deepest fjords in Europe, and is surrounded by mountains on three sides and the sea on the other, just like a natural picture. The winding stone paths, Romanesque churches, Venetian-style bell towers and majestic defensive walls of the old city tell of a thousand years of seafaring and trading history.
