Nantong is located in the southeastern part of Jiangsu Province, China, on the north shore of the estuary of Yangtze River, bordering the Yellow Sea in the east and the Yangtze River in the south, with Shanghai and Suzhou across the river, and is known as the "Gateway to the River and the Sea".
