Dunhua, located in the western part of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province, is an eco-tourism city in the hinterland of the Changbai Mountains, and is known as the "Ancient Capital of a Thousand Years and a Hundred Years County". It was once the capital city of the Bohai Kingdom (698-926), and the existing Bohai Kingdom ruins bear witness to the splendor of ancient civilization in Northeast Asia. As a hub of tourism in Northeast Asia, Dunhua is located in the Liuding Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone, with the world's largest nunnery, Zhengjue Temple, and the world's tallest bronze statue of Sakyamuni. With 78% forest coverage and the Mudan River running through the city, Dunhua is a natural "oxygen bar" and a town of green food with rich animal and plant resources. Relying on the historical heritage and ecological advantages, Dunhua has integrated folk culture, red tourism and recreation industry, and has become a unique and charming livable and touristic city in the eastern part of Jilin.
