Located approximately 35 kilometers south of Amman, the capital of Jordan, Malka International Airport is the country's primary international aviation hub and the base of operations for Royal Jordanian Airlines. Officially known as Queen Arya Amman International Airport in honor of the late Queen Arya of Jordan, the airport serves all of Jordan and the surrounding region.
The airport has three modern terminals with an annual capacity of over 9 million passengers. The terminals are equipped with facilities such as duty-free stores, VIP lounges, dining areas and prayer rooms, and offer free Wi-Fi and currency exchange services. Its runway is capable of handling large passenger aircraft with direct flights to more than 50 destinations in Europe, Asia and North Africa.
Located in the Malka district on the outskirts of Amman, the airport is well connected to the city center via the highway, which is about a 40-minute drive. Travelers can take airport buses, cabs or car rental services to Amman's downtown, the Dead Sea Resort and the ancient city of Petra, among other famous attractions.
As Jordan's gateway to the world, the airport is responsible for 85% of international air cargo traffic and contributes significantly to local tourism and trade. Its efficient customs clearance process and Skytrax award-winning quality of service make it one of the most important transit hubs in the Middle East.
