Ein Yabrud is a town in the Ramallah and Bireh governorates of central Palestine, located about 8 kilometers northeast of Ramallah in the West Bank mountains at an average elevation of about 850 meters above sea level. Its name means "Jacob's spring" and its history dates back to the Bronze Age, with ancient ruins and Ottoman-era buildings still surviving. The local economy is predominantly agricultural, producing olives, grapes and nuts, and the olive industry is an important source of income for the population. As a node connecting Ramallah to the Jordan Valley, Ain Yabrud occupies a place in the cultural and historical fabric of Palestinian society and is an important bearer of local community life and traditions.
