Located in the southwestern part of Shanxi Province, China, Yongji City is under the jurisdiction of Yuncheng City and is situated at the junction of Jin, Shaanxi and Henan Provinces, adjacent to the Yellow River, with a total area of 1,221 square kilometers and a population of about 400,000 people. As a famous historical and cultural city in Shanxi Province, Yongji has a history of over 2,000 years and is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization.
Yongji is famous for the poem "Ascending the Stork Tower" written by Wang Zhilu, a poet of the Tang Dynasty. Within its territory, there are national cultural relics protection units such as the Pu Rescue Temple, the Stork Tower, and the Yellow River Kaiyuan Great Iron Bull. Pusu Temple is the place where the love story of "The Story of the Western Chamber" takes place, attracting many tourists to visit. In addition, Yongji is also famous for Pu Opera (Puzhou Opera) and traditional paper-cutting art.
Yongji is rich in natural landscapes. Wulaofeng National Forest Park is famous for its treacherous mountains and Taoist culture, and Wuzhu Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Shanxi Province. The scenery along the Yellow River is unique. Agriculture is mainly based on wheat, cotton and fruit cultivation, and the specialty "Yongji Dumpling" is famous all over the country. With convenient transportation, the Tongpu Railway and the Daxi High Speed Railway running through the whole area, it is a major tourist and economic town in the southern part of Jinan.
