Diederange is an important city in the southwestern part of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, close to the French border and part of the Esch-sur-Alzette region. The second most populous commune in Luxembourg, Diederange is known for its industrial history and multicultural community, which developed rapidly in the late 19th century due to the emergence of the steel industry, and which still retains its industrial heritage, such as the ruins of some of the old steelworks.
Situated on the banks of the Alzette River, about 15 km from the capital, Luxembourg City, Diederange is easily accessible by rail and road networks. Its proximity to the French border makes it an important hub for cross-border economic cooperation, with many residents commuting to Luxembourg City or France for work.
Economically, Diederange has transformed itself from a traditional steel industry into a service and logistics center with numerous branches of international companies. Culturally, the city combines the traditions of the local Luxembourg population with those of the immigrant communities, especially those of Portuguese and Italian origin, and organizes various festivals throughout the year. Famous landmarks include St. Martin's Church and the Stade de Dérange (home of the Luxembourg national soccer team).
Diederange offers a high-quality living environment with parks, shopping areas and educational facilities. Visitors can explore the industrial heritage, sample the diverse cuisine or use it as a base to explore the natural attractions of southern Luxembourg. The city is known for its safety, livability and epitome of European integration.
