Shanwei is located in the southeastern coast of Guangdong Province, in the transition zone between the Pearl River Delta and the eastern coast of Guangdong, neighboring Shantou in the east, Huizhou in the west, and bordering the South China Sea in the south, and is an important node of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area radiating from the eastern part of Guangdong, with a 302-kilometer-long coastline, which is known as the "golden coast of the eastern part of Guangdong".
