Jovianos, Cuba: a classic Caribbean beach destination
Located in the northern part of the province of Pinar del Río, Cuba, Jovianos (Varadero) is one of the best-known beach towns in the Caribbean, about 140 kilometers from the capital, Havana. This peninsular city is famous for its 20 kilometers of white sandy beaches and clear blue waters, and is known as the "Hawaii of Cuba". Founded in 1519 as a trading port during the Spanish colonial period, Jovianos still retains some of its colonial buildings and historical sites.
