Artemisa is the capital of the Cuban province of Artemisa in the west of Cuba, located about 70 kilometers west of Havana, and was created in 2011 by dividing it from the province of Havana, making it one of the youngest provinces in Cuba. The city's economy is based on agriculture and industry, with an abundance of sugarcane, tropical fruits, and tobacco, as well as machinery manufacturing, food processing, and other industries. Dating back to the 19th century, it retains colonial architecture, such as St. Paul's Church in Central Park and local museums. Artemisa is also one of the most important birthplaces of the Cuban Revolution and has given birth to several historical figures. The natural beauty of the city's surroundings and its proximity to the ecological reserve of the "Las Tunas" mountain range make it a great destination to experience both the culture and the natural beauty of the Cuban countryside.
