Sultan Dungura: Ancient Nubian City on the River Nile
Located in the north of the country on the east bank of the Nile, Sultan Dungura is a historic city in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, which was once an important center of the ancient Nubian civilization and one of the key strongholds of the Kingdom of Kush. With a history of more than 3,000 years, the city has witnessed the intermingling of ancient Egyptian, Roman, and Arab civilizations, and surviving relics such as the 13th-century Bejerig Mosque are of both religious and historical value.
