Capitán Mauricio José Troche is an important town in the department of Guairá, Paraguay, located in the southeastern region of the country. Named after a hero of the Paraguayan War, the town is located about 180 kilometers from the capital, Asunción, in a typical Paraguayan transition zone between hills and plains.
The town was founded in the early 20th century and developed as an agricultural colony. According to the National Institute of Statistics of Paraguay, the town has a population of about 15,000 people, predominantly Mestizos (of mixed European and Indian descent), and the official languages are Spanish and Guaraní. The inhabitants are mostly engaged in agricultural cultivation and livestock production, and retain a strong Guaraní cultural tradition.
The economy is based on agriculture, mainly planting soybeans, cotton, sugar cane and other cash crops, while developing cattle, pigs and other livestock breeding. In recent years, the agricultural and sideline products processing industry has been gradually developed, and a regional agricultural products trading market has been built. The town's infrastructure is perfect, with national highways connecting to neighboring cities, making it an important distribution center for agricultural products in the central and eastern regions.
The traditional Guarani Cultural Festival held annually attracts many tourists to experience unique ethnic music and dance and handicrafts. Surrounded by well-preserved subtropical forest landscape, suitable for ecotourism. The town center retains its colonial architectural style, with the church and town square as typical landmarks.
