About Mejicanos, El Salvador
Mejicanos is a city in the department of San Salvador, El Salvador, located in the west-central part of the country, in the heart of the San Salvador metropolitan area. One of the more densely populated cities in El Salvador, Mejicanos is a blend of tradition and modernity, and is known for its handicrafts and culinary specialties, especially the traditional tortillas called "Pupusas" and the fried cassava called "Yuca Frita". "The city is well connected to other parts of the capital. The city is easily accessible by public transportation, connecting the capital with other major towns and cities, and its economy is based on light industry, small businesses and agriculture. The inhabitants retain a strong Caribbean cultural heritage, and the Mejicanos Festival, held every November, is one of the windows on El Salvador's multiculturalism through music, dance and folklore events that showcase the region's unique flavor.
