Rehoboth is the capital of Namibia's Khomas Province, about 90 km north of the capital, Windhoek, on the central plateau. With a population of about 100,000 people, Rehoboth is an important agricultural and educational center in Namibia. The town is known for its cool climate and wine industry, with vineyards and wineries dotted around the area, and is known as the "Wine Capital of Namibia". Historically, Rehoboth was an important German colonial settlement and retains many colonial buildings such as the neo-Gothic cathedral and the old windmill.
