Sioux Falls is the largest city in the U.S. state of South Dakota, located in the northeastern part of the state, adjacent to the Minnesota border, and is the county seat of Lincoln County. The city is named for the view of the waterfalls on the Missouri River created by the Sioux Falls Dam (Gavins Point Dam), which is not a natural waterfall, but is still an iconic landmark in the area for the majestic view of the water that is created when the dam is released. As a regional economic center, Sioux Falls is anchored by agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, and retail, and is well served by commercial and educational facilities. The city's many parks, such as Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum and Falls Park, offer both natural beauty and recreation.
