Abou El Hassan is a seaside city in the Tipaza Province of northwestern Algeria, located on the Mediterranean coast, about 70 kilometers from the capital city of Algiers. The city takes its name from a local religious saint, meaning "Father Hassan".
The city is situated on a plain between the Tita Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea and has a Mediterranean climate with dry, hot summers and mild, rainy winters. The surrounding area is predominantly agricultural, producing grapes, citrus and other crops, with fine sandy beaches and rocky shores.
The economy of Abulhasan is based on agriculture, fishing and tourism. Traditional fishing communities still maintain artisanal fishing methods and attract large numbers of domestic tourists to the beaches during the summer months. The city center is dotted with white buildings and souks in the Ottoman style.
Algiers is connected to Oran by the national road N11 and the railroad system provides direct access to the capital. As an important satellite town of the Tipaza department, it combines the functions of an agricultural region with coastal tourism, and in recent years it has been developing residential and light industrial areas.
