Attock is a city in the northern Punjab province of Pakistan, situated on the banks of the Indus River, about 80 kilometers from the capital city of Islamabad, and is an important transportation hub connecting the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province with the Punjab province. The area is steeped in history and was once known as Chasada, a key point on the ancient Silk Route that witnessed the intermingling of Persian, Greek and Central Asian cultures. The city is famous for its fortified Attock Fort, built in the 16th century by the Mughal Emperor Akbar, which is strategically located and still intact today. Economically, Attiqod is dominated by agriculture, trade and light industry, producing wheat, cotton and other crops, and is also an important distribution center for goods in the Indus Valley. The local population is predominantly Pashtun and Punjabi, with Urdu and Punjabi as the main languages, and is culturally diverse, blending traditional and modern features.
