Kokopo
Kokopo is the capital of Papua New Guinea's East Sepik Province, located in the northeast of the island of New Britain, about 20 kilometers from the famous port city of Rabaul. Formerly the administrative center of East New Britain Province, Kokopo officially replaced Rabaul as the provincial capital in 1994 due to the volcanic activity in the Rabaul area. With a tropical climate and an abundance of natural beauty around it, including active volcanoes, coral reefs and World War II relics, this seaside city is a popular destination for adventure and history buffs.
