Funafuti, Tuvalu: Capital of a Pacific Island Nation and a Lowland Paradise
Funafuti, the capital of Tuvalu, consists of 33 coral islands with a total area of about 2.4 square kilometers and is the political and economic center of the country. Located in the South Pacific Ocean, the low-lying terrain, with an average elevation of only 2 meters above sea level, faces the serious threat of sea level rise, and is regarded as one of the "countries that may disappear at the earliest possible time due to climate change".
