Hibernia is a small municipality in Morris County, New Jersey, United States, located in the northern part of the state, about 48 kilometers (30 mi) from New York City, and part of the greater New York metropolitan area. The town, which covers an area of about 3.2 square kilometers and has a population of about a few thousand, is known for its peaceful suburban community setting and strong family atmosphere. Deriving its name from the Latin term for Ireland, Hibernia was settled and developed by Irish immigrants in the early days and still retains some of the historic flavor of a European town. The area is predominantly residential, with excellent public schools and community facilities, and residents commute to New York or neighboring cities for work.
