Horseshoe Beach is a coastal town in Dixie County, Florida, United States, located on the Gulf Coast, about 130 kilometers from the state capital of Tallahassee. The town area of only 2.8 square kilometers, the resident population of about 170 people, is one of the least populated towns in Florida.
The town is situated along a natural horseshoe-shaped bay, with tranquil sandy beaches and dense pine forests. The climate is humid subtropical, with mild winters and hot, humid summers, making it ideal for year-round water sports. The surrounding waters are rich in blue crabs, oysters and redfish, making it a paradise for anglers.
The economy is based on recreational fishing and tourism, and most of the houses in town are colorful wooden houses on the water. The famous "Seafood Festival" attracts neighboring residents to taste freshly caught seafood every year. Residents rely on boats and parking lots underneath the elevated houses to get around, preserving Florida's old-fashioned coastal community.
Accessible via Coastal Highway 98 to county roads, the nearest major airport is Gainesville Airport. Visitors can experience canoeing adventures, watch dolphin cruises, or visit the neighboring Cedar Island Wildlife Refuge to observe wading birds. The town has an RV campground and small marina for short family vacations.
