Jianzha County is located in the southeastern part of China's Qinghai Province, belonging to Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, and is situated in the Yellow River Valley, with an average elevation of about 1,900-2,000 meters above sea level. It is a multi-ethnic settlement area, with Tibetans as the main ethnic group and a blend of Chinese, Hui and other ethnic cultures. Jianzha is famous for its magnificent Danxia landforms, known as the "Little Jiangnan of Qinghai", and the red layer landscape of Kambula National Geopark and the clear waters of the Yellow River form a unique natural picture.
Jianzha is a major town of Tibetan Buddhist culture, with the century-old Deqian Monastery, Arjun Nanzong Monastery and other religious shrines. The local economy is mainly based on agriculture, producing wheat, corn and fruits. In recent years, eco-tourism has been developing rapidly, with Yellow River rafting, hiking photography and folklore experience becoming the highlights. Jianzha is also famous for its traditional archery culture of "Colorful Arrows", and holds international archery tournaments every year to attract global attention.
As part of the ecological barrier of the Sanjiangyuan River, Jianzha has a forest coverage rate of over 28%, and is home to rare species such as black-necked cranes and snow leopards. The transportation network is convenient, about 130 kilometers from Xining Caojiabao Airport, with Provincial Highway 203 running through the whole area, and the Jianzha Expressway under construction will further connect the junction area of Qing, Gansu and Sichuan provinces.
