Linquan County belongs to Fuyang City, Anhui Province, China, and is located at the edge of northwest Anhui Province and the southern end of the Yellow-Huai Plain. With a total area of 1,839 square kilometers and a population of about 2.3 million (2020), it is one of the most populous counties in China. Geographically, it lies between 114°50′-115°31′ east longitude and 32°35′-33°09′ north latitude, bordering Henan Province.
Linquan, known as Shendi in ancient times, is the hometown of Jiang Ziya (Jiang Shang), a famous general of the Zhou Dynasty, with a history of more than 3,000 years. It is the hometown of Chinese folk culture and art, especially famous for acrobatics, and is called "the first township of Chinese acrobatics", with more than 1,000 acrobatic troupes. The local opera "Linquan Bangkas" is listed in the provincial intangible cultural heritage.
As a large agricultural county, Linquan is rich in wheat, corn, ginger and other crops, and is an advanced county in grain production and a large county in livestock breeding. Industry is dominated by food processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing, and specialties such as "Linquan Tribute Persimmon" and "Laoji Ginger" are well known, while the G106 National Highway and Fuxin Expressway pass through the county, making the transportation convenient.
There are rivers such as Quan River and Saliva River running through the territory, and the special attractions such as Jiang Ziya Cultural Park and Acrobatic Town attract tourists. The Folk Acrobatics Festival held every year shows the unique local cultural charm and is an important window to understand the culture of the Central Plains.
