Maassluis is a small city and municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland, located in the western part of the Rotterdam metropolitan area, close to the entrance to the North Sea and about 10 km from the center of Rotterdam. The town is known for its long history of fishing and shipping, having been an important port town in the 17th century, and still retains many historic buildings, such as the 17th-century Maassluitoren (Maassland Lighthouse), one of the tallest church towers in the Netherlands and the town's landmark. With a population of around 30,000, Maasland is a peaceful and community-oriented environment with well-developed bike paths and parks, making it an ideal place to experience traditional Dutch town life. Conveniently located with quick connections to Rotterdam and The Hague via metro and bus, it is suitable as a stopover for exploring the western part of the Netherlands.
