Vetrino, Bulgaria: An Inner Agricultural Town in the Varna Region
Vetrino is a quiet town in the Varna region of northeastern Bulgaria, located in the interior about 50 kilometers north of the city of Varna, in the transition zone between the Danube Plain and the Bar Mountains. The town has a population of about 3,000 people, with agriculture as the mainstay of the economy, producing wheat, sunflowers and other crops, and in recent years gradually developing a small food processing industry. Dating back to the Ottoman Empire, the town retains traditional 19th-century stone buildings and an Orthodox church, as well as an annual "Harvest Festival" in the fall, which showcases the traditions of farming culture. Conveniently located on the E87 highway connecting Varna and Shumen, Vetrino is the center of commerce and services for the surrounding countryside, and although it is not famous for its attractions, it attracts visitors looking for peace and tranquility with its simple countryside atmosphere and untouched, unspoiled, pristine environment.
