Tórshavn is the capital and largest city of the Faroe Islands, situated on the southeast coast of Strummer, the main island of the Faroe Islands, and is a historic port city in the North Atlantic. As the political, economic and cultural center of the Faroe Islands, it is home to some 19,000 inhabitants, or nearly a third of the islands' total population.
