Gonggar County: Gateway to Shannan and Pearl of the Plateau of Tibet
Gonggar County belongs to Shannan City of Tibet Autonomous Region, located in the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, is an important transportation hub and agricultural county in Tibet. It has the first large aviation hub in Tibet, Gonggar International Airport, which bears more than 70% of the air passenger transportation in the whole region, and is an important air gateway connecting Tibet with domestic and foreign countries. Here the terrain is flat, the river valley is wide, the Yarlung Zangbo River nourishes the fertile land, produces barley, wheat and other crops, known as "Tibet granary".
