Gyangtse, Tibet, China: Famous Historical and Cultural City and City of Heroes
Located on the banks of the Nyanchu River, a tributary of the Yarlung Tsangpo River in Shigatse City, Tibet Autonomous Region, Gyantse County is an important historical and cultural city in southern Tibet, known as the "City of Heroes". It is famous for its heroic defense of Gyangtse against the British army in 1904, and the Dzongsan anti-British site still stands today, witnessing the unyielding spirit of the Tibetan people.
