Hulan District is located in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, China, in the southern part of the Songnen Plain and on the northern bank of the Songhua River, and is one of the nine municipal districts under the jurisdiction of Harbin City. It has a total area of about 2,156 square kilometers and a population of about 600,000 people. As the northern gateway to Harbin, Hulan has a convenient transportation network, with the Hassui Expressway and the Binbei Railway running through the whole area.
Hulan is the hometown of Xiao Hong, a famous modern Chinese female writer, whose former residence is now an important cultural protection unit. There are also historical relics such as Hulan Temple and Xigang Park in Hulan, which were built in the Qing Dynasty. Hulan River Wetland is a provincial nature reserve with rich ecological resources, attracting a large number of tourists for bird watching and leisure every year.
Hulan is an important agricultural base and industrial area in Harbin, with major industries including green food processing, equipment manufacturing and modern logistics. Hulan Economic and Technological Development Zone is a provincial-level development zone, attracting investment from many enterprises. Local specialties such as Hulan garlic, high-quality rice and other agricultural products are well known throughout the country.
