Located in the western part of the Galilee region in northern Israel, Atta is a town of history and modernity, situated in the transition zone between the Mediterranean coastal plain and the mountains, about 30 kilometers from the city of Haifa. The history of the area dates back to the Bronze Age, and archaeological excavations have revealed a Phoenician-Israeli settlement with ancient ruins and Ottoman-era architecture. The economy is centered on agriculture and light industry, producing citrus, wine and other agricultural products, and in recent years has been diversified with the introduction of technological industries. The population is mostly Jewish and Arab, and the local market and traditional handicrafts are unique. Conveniently connected to major cities via the Acre-Haifa highway, it is an important regional center for commerce and residence in northern Israel.
