Koukouangana is a small town in the eastern part of the African country of Chad, located about 600 kilometers east of N'Djamena, near the border with Sudan, in the Wadi Fira region. As one of the remote towns in eastern Chad, the local economy is based on traditional agro-pastoralism, with the inhabitants mostly engaged in nomadic or semi-nomadic pastoralism, raising livestock such as camels and goats, and cultivating small quantities of drought-tolerant crops such as millet and sorghum. The city is small in size and relatively poor in infrastructure, but it is an important distribution center for the surrounding region, with regular fairs attracting neighboring tribes to trade agricultural products and handicrafts. Koukou Angarana is situated in the Sahel's ecological transition zone, with an arid climate and an average annual rainfall of less than 500 millimeters, facing the challenges of desertification and water scarcity. The local culture is strongly influenced by Arab and African traditions, and the inhabitants speak a Chadian dialect of Arabic and retain unique nomadic customs.
