Located in the southern part of Hokkaido, Japan, Kurokamatsuchi Town is part of the Goshi General Promotion Bureau and is a quiet town known for its natural beauty and ecological preservation. The town covers an area of about 260 square kilometers and has a population of about 1,500. The climate is cold and snowy, and the town often experiences spectacular powder snow in winter.
Kuromatsunai's most famous landmark is the Kuromatsunai Lowland, the northernmost natural beech forest in Japan, which has been designated a National Natural Monument. The town is also rich in hot springs, such as the Kurokamatsuchi Onsen, which attracts visitors to experience forest bathing and winter snow. Agriculture, forestry and eco-tourism are the main industries in the area, and dairy products and mountain vegetables are produced in abundance.
The Kurokamatsuchi Icefall Festival, held in February every year, is an important winter event in Hokkaido, featuring ice sculptures and snow entertainment. The town also retains traditional historical sites of Hokkaido's pioneering work, such as the old railroad ruins and the Local History Museum, which are ideal for visitors who love nature and culture to explore in depth.
