Introduction to Laohekou, Hubei, China
Located in the northwestern part of China's Hubei Province, Laohekou is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Xiangyang City, situated on the east bank of the middle reaches of the Han River. As a cultural city with a long history, Laohekou boasts a history of more than 2,000 years of establishment and was once an ancient trading town and military fortress. With a total area of about 1,032 square kilometers and a population of about 500,000, the city enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct seasons.
The economy is based on agriculture, producing grain, cotton and aquatic products, and the industry covers machinery manufacturing, textile and food processing. Laohekou is also known as the "Hometown of Chinese Folk Culture and Art", with well-preserved non-heritage cultures such as traditional Han opera and shadow play. The transportation is convenient, with the Fuyin Expressway and Han-Xi High Speed Railway passing through the city, and Xiangyang Airport is only 50 kilometers away. Famous scenic spots include the former site of Li Zongren's Commanding General's Office, Baihua Mountain Forest Park, etc., making it an important destination for exploring Han River culture and red tourism.
