Qasr Al Hosn, UAE: Abu Dhabi's Historical and Cultural Landmarks
Located in the heart of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Qasr Al Hosn is one of the oldest buildings in the country. Originally built in 1798 as a military fortress and royal residence for Abu Dhabi's rulers, the fortress has witnessed the transition from nomadic tribes to a modern city. Built in the traditional Bedouin architectural style, the fortress features coral stone walls with plaster carvings, a central courtyard and soaring watchtowers that reflect the defensive ingenuity of yesteryear.
