About Makawao, Hawaii, USA
Located in the central highlands of Maui, Hawaii, USA, Makawao is a town full of history and cultural charm. It is known for its strong cowboy culture (paniolo) and artistic atmosphere, often referred to as "Maui's cowboy town. With a population of about 7,000 and an elevation of about 500 meters above sea level, the climate is cool and pleasant.
The town retains its 19th-century plantation-era architecture, and Main Street is lined with art galleries, boutiques and local restaurants.
