Federal Way is a city in King County, Washington, United States, located on the southeastern shore of Puget Sound, part of the Seattle metropolitan area, and about 40 kilometers from downtown Seattle. Known as the "Garden City", the city is home to the 230-acre Washington State Arboretum, an important botanical research site in the North Pacific region with thousands of species of plants from around the world, and the Federal Way Wildlife Park, which provides a habitat for native species. Commercially, Seaport Mall is the regional retail core. As a hub between Seattle and Tacoma, Federal Way has a population of approximately 98,000 (2020 data), and its diverse community culture and easy access to transportation make it an important city for both livability and business.
