Jayuya, Puerto Rico: A Cultural Gem in the Central Mountain Region
Jayuya, a municipality in the central mountainous region of Puerto Rico, is known as the "heart of Puerto Rico" and, at an altitude of about 430 meters above sea level, is an important center of culture and tradition on the island. The city is deeply rooted in the history of the indigenous Taino people, who preserve traditional crafts, music and dance, and the annual Fiesta de las Montañas attracts many visitors.
