Located in the northwestern part of Anhui Province, China, Fuyang is situated at the southern end of the Yellow-Huaihai Plain and is a member city of the Yangtze River Delta City Group. As the gateway to the southeastern part of the Central Plains Economic Zone, Fuyang has been an important trade hub since ancient times due to the water transportation advantage of the Ying River, a tributary of the Huai River, which runs through its entire territory.

With a history of more than 3,000 years, Fuyang is the hometown of Guan Zhong, Jikang and other famous historical figures. With a current resident population of about 8.2 million, Fuyang is the most populous city in Anhui Province.
