Rwamagana, Rwanda City Profile
Rwamagana is the capital of Rwanda's Eastern Province, located in the heart of the eastern part of the country, and is an important transportation hub connecting the capital, Kigali, with the eastern border areas. As the economic and cultural center of the Eastern Province, the local agriculture is the leading industry, producing coffee, tea, beans and other crops, and in recent years has gradually developed a small agro-processing industry. With a population of around 100,000 (2023 estimate) and infrastructure including a modern market, community school and district hospital, the city demonstrates the dynamism of Rwanda's post-war reconstruction and development. The neighborhood is close to Akagera National Park, one of the gateways for exploring the ecology and culture of eastern Rwanda.
