Zaoqiao Township is located in the north of Miaoli County, Taiwan, China, with an area of about 47 square kilometers and a population of about 13,000 people. It is a typical agricultural township with the city of Jiepeng in the east, the township of Houlong in the west, the township of Touya in the south and the town of Zhunan in the north. The township was named after the many bridges built in the Qing Dynasty for the transportation of timber, and is rich in Hakka culture and historical sites.
Zaoqiao Township is mainly an agricultural township, producing rice, tea, fruits and vegetables, of which "Zaoqiao Watermelon" is particularly famous. The township maintains traditional Hakka settlements and ancient houses, as well as natural landscapes such as the Cheng Han Trail and Longsheng Lake, and recreational facilities such as the Shangri-La Paradise, demonstrating a blend of humanity and ecology.
Zaoqiao Township has convenient transportation, with the Longitudinal Railway and the Taiwan 13th Line Highway running through the whole area, and there is a Zaoqiao Station. In recent years, Zaoqiao Township has combined tourism and agriculture to promote local innovation, and has promoted industrial upgrading through melon and fruit festivals and eco-tourism to deepen the heritage of Hakka culture and sustainable development.
