Aguacatán is a Mayan highland municipality in the department of Huehuetenango, Guatemala, located in western Guatemala, near the Mexican border, at an altitude of about 1,600 meters above sea level, with a pleasant climate. The town is known for its deep Mayan heritage, with the local population speaking mainly Mayan languages and preserving traditional costumes, handicrafts and festivals, and the annual "Festival of Saints", which combines Catholic and Mayan elements, is unique.
